Our Story

Having been reptile enthusiasts their entire lives, Matt and Josh met in 2013 on a reptile themed trip to Australia. Over nearly two weeks they tracked water pythons, swam with fly river turtles, hand fed saltwater crocodiles at Crocosaurus Cove, and even had the incredible opportunity to spend a day filled with memories alongside the legendary Bob Irwin. During these extraordinary experiences a true friendship was born. After that once in a lifetime trip, the two spoke often despite living states apart. 

Around five years later, Josh initiated his quest for Caging solutions for his ever expanding reptile collection. Similar to many others in the reptile hobby, he faced two notable challenges:

The available caging options exhibited subpar quality, lacked aesthetic appeal, often suffered from misalignment, and were plagued by operational issues.

Respected caging companies, although offering quality products, presented difficulties with their extended lead times or inadequate customer service.

Dealing with one roadblock after another, Josh thought about creating his own enclosures. He decided to give Matt a call first, as he had been building enclosures for his personal collection. Starting in 2019, Matt and Josh went through a design process for the initial series of enclosures. All components were meticulously sourced and selected to ensure consistent, high quality products. By 2021, a comprehensive range of terrestrial and arboreal enclosures along with racks and displays was in production. Today, Top Tier Caging has over 900 unique files from standard production to one off custom designs.
